Adams Co. 4-H Achievement Program
This years achievement program will be November 9th at 2:00 at the Lind Elementary Gym.
The pins have been ordered and I will contact you as soon as they arrive so you can pick them up for your club. The Journal will once again be invited, so please check with your club members to ensure that there are not any issues about their pictures being published in the paper.
There will be a spot in the program again this year for members to share their achievements. Remember that you don’t have to win the big ribbon, or get top honors to share. This is a great opportunity for members to share what they learned or what they had fun doing…… Please encourage your members to share something….it is great experience for them.
Please feel free to invite special guests. Invitations should be mailed very soon. Also, if you know of someone that should have an invitation mailed to them, please let me know.
Mark you calendars, the 9th should be a fun day!

Reminders from your Leaders' Councils Treasurers:
`07-`08 Financial Records are due for audit!
Lincoln County: You received notice that your Treasurer’s Books were due September 30. Please do not stress, I would prefer that your September bank statement be with your books. Your club membership cannot renew until you have financial records turned in, so try to get them in as soon as you can after you receive that September bank statement.
You can leave your Treasurer’s book at a Leffel, Otis & Warwick office in Davenport, Wilbur, Odessa, or Ritzville. Please put it in an envelope to my attention, or attach a note on the cover. You can, of course, always leave your book at either Extension Office, too.
Please contact me if you have any questions or need any help now or in the future.
Sincerely,
Terry

Calling All Talented 4-H’ers!
Submitted by Pat BoyEs
The National Association of County Agricultural
Agents is hosting their annual meeting in Portland Oregon in 2009. The
4-H Esprit de Corp committee is heading up their 4-H Talent Program for
Monday night at their dinner. This is 4-H’s opportunity to showcase
their talented performers. There is money to cover travel and housing expenses.
If we could have demo tapes, VT or CD/DVD’s by November 15, 2008 we could review them in December and then by January 1st have information out to the kids and their families.
If you need more information please feel free to call or email, if not we appreciate your willingness to assist with this project and in getting the word out.

4-H National Youth Science Day Resolution Passes in Congress
We are pleased to share the news that the House passed a resolution this week officially recognizing October 8, 2008 as 4-H National Youth Science Day.
The bill was introduced by Congressman Dennis Cardoza of California
and had 35 co-sponsors by the time it went to the House floor. Click
for a WORD or PDF press
release about this significant occasion as well as the Congressional
Record (PDF) which captures some wonderful comments from
the House floor. Please share and help spread the message about 4-H National
Youth Science Day. I hope you will
be able to conduct this
experiment with county commissioners and other
important decision makers as well as with youth.
