Teen Time Meetings

Hey, we missed many of you at the March Teen Time meeting. You missed out on a great educational meeting. Damon was a great presenter and we learned about landscaping as a career, but also as a life skill.

Our April meeting would normally fall on Easter Sunday. Since that's not acceptable, we will plan our April meeting to be the work day on the Community Pride Project at Sprague, May 2nd at 9am.  We will be laying black cloth and landscaping with rock. Bring your shovels and gloves, wear work clothes and closed toe shoes.  This is great community service hours opportunity to count toward graduation requirements as well as Teen Time applying for Community Pride Award.

Also, I have not heard from any group on your planning of embroidery machine classes. What's up?  Joy

Swine Influenza Concerns for Swine Producers and 4-H/FFA Swine Projects

The spread of the “Swine Flu” or Swine Influenza Virus H1N1 in Mexico, the U.S. and around the world has naturally created increased concern for individuals involved with swine production.  Even though the name indicates a connection to swine, the spread of this illness has not been linked to contact with pigs.
MORE Information

Disease Prevention in 4-H Livestock Projects

Check out the new training module for 4-H Livestock Volunteers. Fair managers & superintendents will also find this information useful! This training covers bio-security practices and how they can be used to reduce the risk of contracting and spreading diseases while raising 4-H livestock. It is a great way to learn disease prevention while providing you with inspiration and teaching ideas so you can bring these concepts to youth in your county!

The training is delivered on-line at http://vetextension.wsu.edu/programs/4-H/index.htm
(preferred method). For those with no or slow internet access, a DVD of training is available from the Extension Office. Lincoln-Adams volunteers can contact Karen or call 659-3209 or 725-4171.

Attention 4H Poultry Project Members & Leaders!

Please share this with anyone who plans to exhibit poultry!
In January 2008, WSDA passed a rule which states that all poultry going to exhibit must test negative for Salmonella pullorum-typhoid (P-T). This rule applies to chickens, exotic fowl, and game birds; but excludes waterfowl, doves, and pigeons. MORE

Davenport Spring Clinic Postponed!

4/7/09 – Jeanie Campbell
Just wanted to let everyone know that there will be NO spring clinic at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds on Saturday April 11th. It was decided at the Lincoln Co. 4-H Horse Program meeting on Monday the 6th, that with Easter and Easter Egg hunts, would probably not have a good turn out, so we are looking at other dates for this.

New 4-H Filmmaking Resource Available

Forwarded by Nancy Mordhorst
National 4-H Council has officially launched The Virtual 4-H Filmmaking Studio & Workshop, developed in collaboration with Montana State University, and located online at:
www.4-H.org/curriculum/filmmaking.

The Filmmaking Studio and Workshop is the online space to find tools and resources about video production and “how to make your own film.”  On the home page of the site, you’ll find the main Filmmaking Workshop—an 11 module “virtual workshop”, geared toward youth interested in making Science, Engineering, and Technology (SET) films. This is a BETA release and feedback is encouraged, via the “Give Feedback” button on the home page.   Additional resources will be added and tweaked over time, so stay tuned.  Happy Filmmaking!
