FAIRS

4/10/12
The Governer still has to sign . . . but the 2012 legislative session is over.  The Fair Fund remains at the same amount appropriated last year.  That is $1,750,000 per year for 2012 and 2013.  That is a decrease of $250,000 per year from full funding, but considering that it was  proposed to eliminate Fair Funding entirely, remaining stable is huge.

Wampum Date moved to May 5th.

2013 Western Regional Leaders Forum is in Hawaii!

March 21-24, 2013, at the Waikiki Marriott in Honolulu Volunteers & Teens can submit Workshop Proposals!

The goal of the Western Region 4-H Leaders’ Forum 2013 is to provide training opportunities for adults and teens that serve 4-H youth in our communities.

The workshops at the WRLF 2013 will inspire and enable adults and youth to gain a better understanding of themselves, others, and their world as we continue to Strive for Excellence.  Developing life skills will help participants grow and become more capable contributors to 4-H families, clubs, and communities.  The workshops should emphasize leadership, communication, science, technology, and cultural experiences.  Workshops utilizing an experiential, hands-on format to involve participants are preferred but others will be thoughtfully considered.,?

See the workshop proposal form due May 15th. Direct questions to one of the contact individuals listed on the form. Please share this with colleagues and adult and teen volunteers. The 4-H members, leaders, families, and faculty and staff at the University of Hawaii look forward to seeing you next March.

TEENS ARE WELCOME:  Youth will be fully involved in the WRLF 2013 as participants and presenters.  Presenters may target a particular audience; however, workshops will be open to all participants.

Know Your Government Report

Hello, my name is John. I ran as the 4-H Gubernatorial candidate representing Lincoln Co. at the Know Your Government (KYG) Conference in Olympia, WA. Although I did not win, I gained a great deal of wisdom and knowledge. I learned that a great leader not only works with his or her peers, but at times must also hold true to his or her separate and unchanging beliefs. Yes, compromising is what working with a team or . . . MORE
