GEARING UP TO LEAD SAFE FAIRS
August 21, 2009
Hello 4-H Family.
As volunteers in Lincoln and Adams Co., WA prepare to manage fair
sites in the safest manner possible,
I know you will support their decisions. Volunteers are working
against old
and small facilities plus facing the pressure to avoid any transmission
of
disease. They will be adjusting pens and trafficing animals
in a way that
protects the public's health, the animal's health, the consumer of
marketed
meat, and the fair's liability.
To understand the
current
bio-security issues involved, I advise YOU to review the video
available here:
http://breeze.wsu.edu/diseasepreventioncourse2/event/registration.html
This video has the facts. It is provided to you by WSU Extension College of Veterinary Medicine. In 56 minutes, you may know enough to prevent contamination and support decisions that protect all.
If you are unable to run the on-line module
on your computer, a DVD is avaialble for check-out to Lincoln and
Adams WA residents from the WSU Extension Offices in
Ritzville (509) 659-3209, email ,
and Davenport (509) 725-4171.
If you have further questions, please contact me (contact info below)
or Tom
Platt, our Extension Animal Scientist at (509) 725-4171.
