The basic purpose of the volunteers who serve on 4-H Councils is to meet the educational needs of the enrolled youth. They must determine what those needs are and how to best deliver programs to meet those needs. Throughout the state, volunteers work in partnership with Extension professionals to develop programs that best serve the changing needs of youth in their county or area. In each county an Extension professional is ultimately responsible for the 4-H program. Consequently, all work and decisions of the 4-H Council are advisory to the 4-H professional.

Request for Workshop Proposals
In thinking ahead to 2010, I wanted to share with you that the 2010 Washington/Idaho State 4-H Forum committee has posted the workshop proposal cover letter and proposal form to our official website at: http://4h.wsu.edu/2010LeadersForum/proposals.html

Proposals are due by March 15 and can be submitted utilizing the proposal form found on the referenced website.  This forum will provide a unique opportunity for Washington and Idaho faculty, staff and volunteers to share their knowledge and expertise with 350-400 colleagues throughout our 2-state region, and gain new perspectives as well.  We look forward to having a large turnout for this innovative approach in multi-state educational programming, October 15-17 in Spokane Valley, Washington.
