4-H Super Sunday Photo Workshops
- Photos of 4-H activities
- Image may someday represent subject, project, 4-H group,
community, county, state, WSU, and maybe even our country.
- Make sure to get media release if subject is recognizable.
- Is the image of the person, object, or activity a positive
example?
- Do logos, props, or backgrounds help tell the story?
- Is the image clear and interesting? - Hold camera as still as possible
- Use a tripod or
- Stand, sit, or lay still
- Brace against something
- Hold still extra time to allow for "shutter delay"
- Exception - panning camera with action - Your brain "filters" what your eye "sees"
- Your camera "sees" what's there
- Look for "clutter" - when possible:
- Move or change camera angle and/or
- Remove or hide distracting items - Get in close
- Use zoom or move closer
- Avoid extreme wide-angle when close to people or animals - Pay attention to light
- Adjust room light if possible
- Move subject away from strong "back lighting"
- And/or use flash (even outdoors)
- Know YOUR flash
- Too close (try with automatic flash turned off)
- Move closer if too far away for reach of flash
- If and how you can over-ride your automatic flash settings - Take variations of same scene
- With & without flash depending on light
- From different angles

- Digital: crop, edit, or resize COPIES of original files
- Scan or Resize photos according to:
- Size of print enlargement
- For e-mail or web - Composition
- Verticle, horizontal, or square?
- Rule of thirds
