Cougar String Camp
June 24 — 29, 2012
Grades 7-12

Violinists, violists, cellists and bassists will work with Washington State University faculty to improve their musical skills in a variety of ways.  String students will have the opportunity to participate in orchestra, jazz improvisation, fiddling, string techniques class, music theory class, master classes and chamber music (string quartets and trios).

The string camp will enjoy recreational activities.  Students will use the WSU Recreational Center as well as participate in fun evening activities.  The faculty and counselors will provide 24-hour supervision of the campers.  Responsible counselors will stay in the dormitories with all the boarding campers. WSU School of Music
Summer Keyboard Explorations
June 24 — 29, 2012
Grades 7-12

For the 23rd consecutive year, middle school and high school students can work with award-winning Washington State University faculty to study classical piano, jazz piano/improvisation, and organ. With a limited number of students, Summer Keyboard Explorations offers students the opportunity to work with different faculty one-on-one each day, thus sending them home at week's end with a variety of information and different views about how they can improve their playing. In addition to a faculty concert, SKE features a guest artist who will perform a concert and give a master class to the students. The week's events culminate in a student concert that includes ensemble playing, a highlight of many student's experience at SKE!
